As we approach the end of the season we have to determine how to calculate scoring as fair as possible for the top seven teams. With an uneven number of teams it presents some confusion. We experienced 2 cancellations so far this year. Assuming this is all we have for cancellations, the teams that were scheduled for byes on the nights of the cancellations have scored one extra week of points, over the rest of the field. All other teams would have missed the cancelled nights scores, plus their bye week score. In determining the playoff standings points, I propose that the teams that have the extra score lose the score of their lowest producing match. This way all teams have the same amount of weeks scored, and the adjustment is minimal to the teams affected. Or we could have a random draw lottery, where the teams with extra scores throw all of their weekly match scores in a hat and draw one out, reducing their total by that amount. Give me your thoughts? Regards, Gary
P.S. This is for Copper Division only.
